Project Run presents:

The Spit, Gold Coast.

Distance = unlimited.

Yard = 6.7km

Friday March 13th, 2026

Will you be the last person standing?

Two runners, a man and a woman, running on a sandy trail outdoors surrounded by green bushes and trees, under a cloudy sky.

The ultimate race with no finish has arrived on the Gold Coast.

The details:

What is a backyard ultra?

Essentially, you have one hour to run one yard (6.71km). The next yard starts every hour, on the hour. If you don’t complete the yard in an hour, fail to start or decide not to continue you’re out. The race continues until there is only one person left standing.

01

When and where?

On Friday 13th of March, 2026, the inaugural Gold Coast BYU will commence at Doug Jennings Park, Main Beach.

Runners will commence their first yard at 4pm, and will aim to run one yard every hour, on the hour, until they can no longer continue.

It’s a race against yourself, your own distance personal bests, and your mind.

02

The Course?

The entire course will be marked, so you will not have to download a GPX file (however, we will have it for you if you’d prefer). This course combines all - terrain from road, to grass, to trail to beach so please prepare for all options.

Join the teams challenge

Run with mates in the Gold Coast BYU teams challenge AND score yourself some great discounts!

To bring running community together (and for some fun and friendly competition) we’re inviting all the local run clubs to be part of the Run Club Team Challenge!

How it’ll work:

• Enter a team of 4 runners.

• Clubs can enter multiple teams if they like.

• Each team receives 1 x free entry between them (that’s 25% off entry!)

• Teams race as individuals, but their results combine for a collective score!

Highest collective yard score wins (we’ll add all the yards completed by the 4 runners). We’ve got great prizes for the top teams!
