The Race.
Curious as to what you’re in for if you take on the Gold Coast’s first backyard ultra?
Set against perhaps on of Australia’s most iconic coastal backdrops (we are pretty biased), you’ll run through a mix of terrain, along the boulevard, through the winding Federation trail, open grassland and even around 500m of pure beachfront. You might even be tempted to go for a mid-loop dip…
The course combines our coastal natural beauty with variety and a hint of challenge.
The course.
The course covers a varied terrain including oceanway, grass, trail and even directly along the world class Main Beach.
You’ll either be surrounded by ocean views, or immersed in the dynamic ecosystem of The Federation Walk on The Spit.
Elevation gain = 16 m
Elevation loss = 19m
Surface type: 34% paved / 36% trail / 30 % other (beach and grass).
Race HQ.
The race takes place at Doug Jennings Park, the northern most part of The Spit.
There will be signs and marshals on race day showing you where to go. Unfortunately no cars can enter the parklands, but you will be able to unload within 50 m of the starting coral. Loading zones will be clearly marked.
I don’t have my own marquee - can I use yours?
We will have communal areas under marquees to set up chairs, eskies, whatever you need for your time at the event. You’re welcome to any of the food / beverages also on offer.
We do recommend bringing your own chair, as we do not have enough to cater for everyone. For those travelling interstate, feel free to drop us a line at team@projectrun.net and we will do what we can to provide you with equipment.
Can I set up early?
You can arrive between 10 AM and 3.30 PM on Friday to set up your gazebo. Prime spots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
On arrival, please see one of our traffic marshals who will help direct you to the next best available spot.
Parking and transport.
There is all day parking all around the Doug Jennings Park. We will have a 15 minute loading zone directly in front of race HQ for you to unload and reload your marquee and supplies at the start and end of your race. From there, we kindly ask that you or your crew moves the car to any of the other car parks to make space for the next person to unload.
Please note that we have not got exclusive rights of the Doug Jennings Park and that you will be sharing with the public.
There are several alternative ways to arrive at the event, such as car pool, ride share, taxi and cycling along the wonderful oceanway.
We will be sending out parking information and loading zone maps in the participant booklet closer to the event.
